CFO in a BoxDocs

Getting Started

Three steps get you from signup to your first real answer: create your account, connect QuickBooks Online, and start a conversation with your advisor.

1. Create your account

Go to app.cfoinabox.com and enter your work email. We’ll send you a one-time code, so there’s no password to set or remember. Enter the code, add a few basics about your business, and you’re in.

New accounts start on a 7-day free trial. You’ll need to add a card to activate it, but you won’t be charged until the trial ends.

2. Connect QuickBooks Online

Your advisor works from your real numbers, not a spreadsheet you maintain separately, so connecting QuickBooks Online is next. Click Connect QuickBooks and sign in with your QBO login to grant access.

See Connecting QuickBooks for what the connection actually shares and how to troubleshoot it. CFO in a Box currently only works with QuickBooks Online, so you’ll need an account there to get set up.

3. Start your first chat

Once you’re connected, head to Advisor Chat and ask a real question. “How’s my cash flow looking” or “what should I be worried about this month” both work. Your advisor answers using your real, live QuickBooks numbers and remembers what you’ve talked about before, so you won’t have to re-explain your business next time.

See Advisor Chat for more on what to ask and what your advisor remembers between sessions.
